The popular Indian crypto platform CoinDCX is facing a major cyberattack, resulting in significant losses of $44.2 million. The news gets official when the co-founder of CoinDCS, Neeraj Khandelwal, publishes a tweet on the X (formerly Twitter) platform. The breach occurred on 19th July, and the co-founder was official the day after the attack.

Details of CoinDCX CyberAttack

On 19th July, one of India’s popular crypto platforms faced a huge backlash because a major cyberattack led to 44.42 million losses by the company. The attackers transferred 4,443 ETH worth around $15.7 million and 155,830 SOL worth around $27.6 million.

The attackers targeted the internal operational account used for liquidity provisioning on a partner exchange in the CoinDCX platform. So it is a company’s loss and will not affect the users funds on the platform.

Sumit Gupta, another co-founder of CoinDCX, also said, “Thankful to all whosupport us at this crucial time managing the transparency and trust on the platform.” They also state we are responsible to secure the users assets on this platform, and we are constantly doing this.

They also confirmed that the attack we applied on one of the internal operation accounts led to the 44.2 million losses but didn’t affect the users funds.

He added, “Our commitment is clear: we are responsible for users data and their assets. The good thing is, the attack didn’t touch the users funds. We are still doing all the steps to protect our customers.”

Major Cyberattack on Crypto Platform

It is the 2nd biggest cyberattack on the Indian crypto platform. Before this, India’s most popular crypto platform, WazirX, also faced a huge cyberattack with over 234 million losses, including 4.4 million user profiles.

However, the cyberattack on CoinDCX has some good news: the attackers have not touched any users data. As per multiple sources, it was an attack on an internal operation account, and the theft of 4.2 million is the 2nd biggest loss by a crypto platform.
