Indonesia has banned the sale of iPhone 16 in their region due to not complying with local content regulations. The Indonesian investment minister, Rosan Roeslani, is asking for more investment in their county, They were requesting the creation of more job opportunities in their region for continuous selling.

Indonesia banned the iPhone 16 Sale in their region in October for not complying with local content regulations. The government aims for 40% of production to be sourced locally to create more job opportunities. According to him, if the apply competes with Indonesia’s supply chain, they can expect more investment in their region.

According to the source, Apple proposed Indonesia invest a 10 million plan which was rejected, additionally government increased its value to 100 million within a week to continue selling the iPhone in their region.

The investment minister, Rosan Roeslani, stated that any profits from sales must be reinvested locally to maximize job creation.

Now Apple has to fulfill all the requirements to sell its brand new Apple 16 Series into the Indonesian market. The iPhone 16 Launch in Indonesia has been postponed till Apple couldn’t meet all the requirements and get a certificate.

Also, Apple’s Domestic Component Level (TKDN) certification has expired and needs to be renewed with a few more changes like local content regulations.

The iPhone 16 was first introduced in September 2024 but Apple still struggling to continue selling their products in the Indonesian market. Along with the iPhone 16, other Apple products for sale in their region are still postponed and waiting for approval.

However, According to a general source, Apple has applied for the Local Content Requirement and TKDN certification and it is under review. Apple produce will start again selling after the application is reviewed and approved by the government of Indonesia.
