PMWC 2025 Tournament Format
The tournament is going to conclude in a total of three stages; they are the group stage, survival stage, and Grand Final. However, day 3 of the Grand Final applied the Smash Rule to make gaming exciting.
Group Stage: July 25th–27th, 2025
The group stage will start on the 25th of June and end on the 27th of June with a total of 3 groups and 24 teams. Each will compete against the other’s groupwise. A total of 6 matches to play each day means a total of 18 matches have to be played by all the teams to qualify for the next stage. The top 8 teams based on overall points will directly advance to the Grand Finals.
Survival Stage: Dates: July 29th–30th, 2025
The bottom 8 teams will be eliminated from the tournament, while the top 8 teams overall points will advance to the Grand Finals.
Grand Finals: Dates: August 1st–3rd, 2025
The top 8 teams from the group stage and the top 8 teams from the survival stage will compete against each other in the grand final. In the Grand Final, a total of 18 matches will be played by 16 teams in three days. On Day 3, the Smash Rule will be applied.
Smash Rule
- Teams play under standard tournament rules.
- After Match #12 of the Grand Finals, find the top team’s points.
- Add 10 points to that number to set the match point threshold.
- Any team that reaches or exceeds this threshold becomes match point eligible.
- These teams remain eligible for all following matches.
- The first Match Point Eligible team to win a WWCD (Winner Winner Chicken Dinner) becomes the Champion.
- A total of 6 matches will be played on Day 3.
- If no Match Point Eligible team wins a WWCD in those 6 matches,
- The team with the highest total points becomes the champion.
